Incubus, 30 Seconds hold concerts in Manila

MANILA, Philippines – Throngs of music fans braved the stormy weather on Thursday and Friday to witness two epic performances from two American rock bands.
More than 8,000 fans trooped to Araneta Coliseum on Thursday for the Philippine leg of the “If Not Now, When? World Tour” of the band Incubus.
The band sent Araneta into a frenzy by opening the 20-song set with the hard-hitting “Megalomaniac”.
The band’s guitarist, Mike Einziger, experienced technical difficulties and was seen slamming his guitar twice on the floor in frustration.
Einziger stormed off the stage momentarily before returning to finish the song.
Incubus followed it up with “Wish You Were Here”, which had the jam-packed crowd singing along with vocalist Brandon Boyd.
Incubus played a mix of old and new songs, from 1999’s “The Warmth” to the band’s most recent single “Promises, Promises”.
Reports said a lady fan collapsed during the show.
In their third visit to Manila, the band showed that they still had new tricks up their sleeves, as they played the song “I Miss You” during the encore performance.
Meanwhile, the band 30 Seconds to Mars performed at the Trinoma Concert Grounds on Friday despite strong rains.
The band is known for the hits “Closer to the Edge” and “Hurricane”.
Aside from the band’s success in the music scene, their vocalist Jared Leto, has also received acclaim in Hollywood as an actor.
During the band’s press conference, they promised that their concert in Manila will not be the last.
The band left Saturday to continue with their Asian tour. -- With a report from Ginger Conejero, ABS-CBN News

Enchong defends Erich over 'bad attitude' rumors

MANILA, Philippines – Actor Enchong Dee came to the defense of actress Erich Gonzalez, who is being rumored for having a "bad attitude" behind the camera.
In an interview with Push.com.ph during the press conference of “Maria la del Barrio,” Dee said Gonzales should be given another chance because it would be unfair for her if she’ll be judged based solely on speculations.
“Hindi lang naman si Erich ang nachichismis na ganyan. Minsan isang kuwento lang ang marinig o isang picture lang ang makita natin, naikakahon na ganun na 'yung mga artista. Unfair din naman sa aming mga artista. Sana mas kilalanin pa kami,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dee revealed that he and Gonzales are already looking forward to “Maria la del Barrio” which is set to premiere on August 15.
“Sobra ang pressure na nararamdaman namin ni Erich. Noon pa man alam na namin na ang ‘Maria la del Barrio’ ang isa sa mga pinaka-successful na telenovela sa Mexico. Kapag ginawan mo siya ng version you have to live up to the expectation of the public,” he said.
Dee said he is excited to share with their fans the product of their hard work.
“Naghintay talaga kami kasi 'yung mga fans namin laging nagtatanong kung kailan ba ipapalabas. Finally, maipapalabas na siya kaya sobrang saya namin. Thankful din kami dahil at least nabigyan kami ng sapat na panahon para makapaghanda ang siguraduhing mapaganda namin 'yung programa,” he shared.
The Mexican "Maria la del Barrio" was originally aired in 1995 to 1996. It starred popular Mexican actress Thalia and Fernando Colunga.
